Updating PROKON

The PROKON development team is continuously working at improving the software. Changes in design codes, support for additional design codes, new program features and occasional bug fixes make for regular program updates.

Update eligibility

You are eligible for free software maintenance (program updates and technical support) in the following cases:

• If you have an annual rental agreement.
• If you purchased or upgraded your PROKON software within the past 12 months.
• If you have entered into a maintenance agreement with your local Prokon branch with respect to your purchased PROKON software.
• If you purchased your PROKON software more than 12 months ago, you can reactivate your free software maintenance by purchasing an upgrade.

To view your annual rental or maintenance expiry date, click License Status on the Home tab.

Updating your programs

You can use either of the following methods to update your PROKON programs:

• Live Update: One the Home tab, click Live Update and follow the prompts. The Live Update utility will contact the Prokon Web Server and display updates that are available for your installation.
• PROKON Service Pack: A ZIP package is available on the Prokon Website with all program modules for manual installation.

Updating a network installation

The same options apply as above. The following additional information applies:

• If you are accessing PROKON on a network server using the "shortcut only option ", then you simply need to keep the programs on the server updated.
• If using the "full program installation option" (program files installed on the workstation; license on the server), then you need to update the program files on each workstation. To update a workstation, use Live Update or the Service Pack on the workstation as described above. A more efficient update mechanism (download once; update multiple workstations) is as follows:
  • Update the program files on the server.
  • Use Live Update to update each workstation, setting the update source as the server folder where updated PROKON program files reside.
